how to spot a tiger in wild

Tiger is one of the main attractions for Indian safari lovers, but it is difficult to find out any tiger in wild. It also has some specific reasons behind difficulties.

Tiger belongs to the cat family they are always quite secretive and also nocturnal in behavior. in generally we search around 60-100km within a safari, and a male tiger can take 40-100SqKm. territory which can cover 2-3 families within. for that, we hardly cover a territory of very few tigers during a safari and as they are secretive other than some bold tiger or tigress who are habituated with tourist vehicles all love to hide. The reason behind hiding is also sensible i.e. their life depends on hiding because they are stalking and ambush predators, if we could spot them might be their prey also can spot them. if the surprise element went before the charge then there are very lesser chances to make a successful hunt.
If you see a tiger in the forest it is always difficult to separate its body color from the background of the forest especially during the dry season because of its striped body on orange fur.
sense of hearing is very good for a tiger and also they can sense any changes in an environment very faster than us for that they can hide before being spotted by us.

Spotting of Tiger is also an art that takes lots of time to sense all the changes happening around you during a safari.
1) Pug Mark:- it is difficult to spot a pug mark from a moving vehicle but you have to keep eye on everything, and when you spot a pug mark then have to read, the direction of movement, how old is that male or female, (also need to know till where is a territory)

according to the information of pug mark you have to reach the proper place and then start waiting for the game.

2) Alarm Call:- alarm call, when any herbivore animal spots any carnivore start blowing an alarm call to make their other family members aware and also to break the surprise attack of the tiger, especially from Deer, Antelope, and Langoor.

other than Pug Mark and Alarm call also have to look for

3) Scratch Mark and Pheramon Sprey:- for marking the territory of a tiger, can spray pheromone or mark through a scratch mark which can give you an idea about the territory of a tiger also if it is fresh then a good chance to find out that particular. (pheromone spray also works as a chemical communication between two tigers)

4) Growling or roaring:- unlike nonverbal chemical communication pheromone spray communicates through verbal communication while growling and roaring which is very rare.

these are the main way to spot a tiger during the safari.
